Vigilance Department is an integral part of the Damodar Valley Corporation Management, and is the Nodal Section entrusted with the job of handling all Vigilance related matters in the organization. It firmly believes in adopting best practices through continual improvement, effective control and transparency.

The Vigilance Department of DVC, with its head-quarter at DVC Towers, V.I.P. Road, Kolkata – 700054, is headed by the Chief Vigilance Officer, who is assisted by the CE-I(M) & HOD and the Sr. GM (HR) & HOO, and other executives, hailing from Engineering and HR backgrounds. In addition, Vigilance Officers are posted in all major Projects of DVC.

The CVO on the basis of the investigation carried out by the Vigilance Department advice to the Management to take effective actions in respect of qualitative improvement in the functioning of the Organization.  The CVO also acts as Advisor to the Chairman in all matters pertaining to various issue of the Corporation.  The CVO also acts as a link between the Corporation and Organizations like CVC, MoP, CBI etc. on vigilance matters.  The major works of the Vigilance Department comprises of (i) Investigation of complaints received from MoP, GoI, (ii) Complaints received from CVC including PIDPI complaints and (iii) Complaints received from other sources.  Preventive vigilance like periodic inspections, surprise inspection, scrutiny of files and CTE type intensive examination and scrutiny of Annual Property Returns of employees.  The Vigilance Department also coordinates with the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), Chief Technical Examination (CTE), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Ministry of Powers, Govt. of India.
