Research & Development

R&D wing, DVC is keenly working on thrust areas / challenges related to DVC business processes and pursuing Innovation and Research activities aligned with DVC’s Growth and Energy Transition Strategies.

Objectives of DVC’s R&D wing is to promote scientific temper and culture of R&D within DVC, to innovate, develop and implement state of the art technologies for operational efficiency and reliability, to improve energy efficiency and resource optimization, to harnessing renewable energy and waste energy for environmental benefits, improving occupational health and safety, reducing perineal / recurring O&M problems / issues through innovative means and to develop patented technologies in the power sector.

R&D wing, DVC is working on research projects ranging from Waste to Energy, Use of AI & Data Analytics to support Business Process decisions, Improved use of Water & Ash, feasibility of integration of micro steam Turbine / Mini Hydro turbine at Thermal Stations, Carbon Capture Utilization & Storage(CCUS), Green Hydrogen options etc.

There is a facility of testing of Civil Engineering materials such as cement, brick, concrete, bitumen, tar felt etc including soil testing in the laboratory known as Central Testing Division located at Maithon project. From different field formations of DVC, materials are sent regularly to this department for getting tested to ensure better quality control.
